Overview

BitingOff is designed as a privacy-first desktop app. Detection and tracking are processed on your Mac. We do not run a cloud backend for app usage data, and we do not sell personal information.

Information We Process

  • Camera frames used locally for real-time hand-to-mouth detection.
  • Local settings and usage history, such as sensitivity and incident counts.
  • Optional notification preferences and custom alert sound selections.

How Data Is Used

  • To detect nail-biting behavior and provide immediate alerts.
  • To show progress analytics inside the app.
  • To save your preferences between sessions.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not upload camera video to our servers.
  • We do not collect personal analytics profiles.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

Permissions

BitingOff may request these permissions on macOS:

  • Camera: required for detection.
  • Notifications: used for local alerts.
  • Microphone (optional): only if you record a custom alert sound.

Data Retention and Control

Data is stored on your device. You can clear app history in the app, reset preferences, or remove app data by uninstalling BitingOff and deleting local support files.

Children's Privacy

BitingOff is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect product or legal changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
